Like many households up and down the country, we have technology galore. One thing my other half craved for was Alexa. As soon as he read what Alexa could do, we had to have her. Now I call it lazy behaviour because, it is so easy to sit there and say “Alexa switch lamps on”, “Alexa set heating to 22”, “Alexa this, and Alexa that”.
Since she arrived everything has become Smart Devices even down to the fish tank, which is connected to Alexa.
And of course every night he has to sort the fish tank out and rinse out the skimmer. So it starts of with him saying, “Alexa switch Pump 3 off”, ” Alexa switch Skimmer 2 off”. Sometimes she does it without a problem but 99% of the time she doesn’t do as he says. And that is when he is apt to the verbal abuse of Alexa. With threats she’ll be thrown out or threats of she’s just about to be smashed to pieces. 😀 😀 😀 And will be replaced by Google… I don’t go much on Googles chances of survival. 😀 😀 😀
Whilst I’m sitting there grinning like a Cheshire cat trying my hardest not to laugh, of course I fail at that, which doesn’t help matters.
One thing I’ve learnt with her, is this you have to speak clearly to her and loudly especially if the TV is on. And no matter how many times I tell him, he just doesn’t listen. And Alexa goes her own sweet way and then you get from him the talk about how technology is supposed to help you not do there own thing or what they think you said.
And it isn’t just Alexa,, his smart phone doesn’t fair well either. At least 3 times a month I have to sort that out.. 😀 😀 😀
So yes he is apt to abusing Alexa on a daily basis.

My wife made me unplug Alexa and put her in the garage because, sometimes out of the blue, she would say something without being prompted and my paranoid wife thought she was eavesdropping on us. So there she sits on a shelf in our garage, unplugged and all alone.

Honestly, she is still ignoring him… he’s just asked me if I’ve asked her to ignore him.. I can see her being evicted really soon. 😀 😀 😀 Mind you if they are eavesdropping in on us… I bet they are in fits at his anger with him… and how she winds him up. I know I am. 😀 😀 😀

I must admit I have a Google speaker, it is useful for urning the bedroom light on an off, otherwise I bump into things. Linking it with Spotify, it’s useful to play any old music I happen to fancy. Google seems to get pretty much everything right except music.

Alexa controls our bedroom lamp. Even our little echo dot has it in for him. 😀 😀 😀
